ABOUT THE FAU TRIATHLON

The FAU Wellness Triathlon is held annually in April along highway
A1A.  The triathlon is based at Spanish River Park in Boca Raton.  It
consists of three events:  ¼ mile ocean swim, ten-mile bike ride, and
a 3.1 mile run.  This year's event will be held on SUNDAY, APRIL 19TH,
2009.  Our tailgate rendezvous starts at 6:00am (in front of The
Griddle restaurant near Spanish River & Dixie Highway) and our portion
is usually finished by 10:00am.

Resident and visiting amateurs have enjoyed supporting event
communications for many years.  We welcome all skill levels from newly
licensed to older-than-dirt.  The amateur communications team utilizes
a local repeater and an emergency communications van, which serves as
net control.  Usually 20-30 amateurs participate and are strategically
stationed at various event locations.

The goals of this exercise are:

* Provide communications support for event activities

* Learn, practice, and teach amateur net protocol & communications organization

* Constructively analyze our team performance and suggest improves for next year

* Keep communications skills current for emergency communications needs

* Enjoy fellowship with other amateurs

* Have FUN!

Communications posts are assigned by a number of factors (Functional
nature, previous event experience, ability, scheduling, etc.) and we
do our best accommodate preferences, however this is not always
possible.  For those who would like to "buddy-up" with someone, there
are several locations, which require a pair of communicators.
