Meeting Minutes June 15, 2004

After a nice barbeque the meeting got on the way with as main topic the upcoming FieldDay.

Field Day 2004
Of the usual crowd that visits BRARA and K4FAU activities, we have received word that several hams won't be attending for various reasons.
So first thing was to decide if FieldDay is a go or not.

With overwhelming majority it was decided to go ahead with FieldDay 2004 no matter what. Because it was already planned not to over do it the plan can be easily adapted to accommodate a scaled down setup.
For now the plan is to setup 3 operating positions: 1 GOTA (N4YQU) and 2 "regular" stations. This will mean that we will be participating as a 2A station.
Tentatively there will be a small get together Friday June 25th at T6 to sort out the equipment. The setup at the ropes course will start Saturday morning June 26th.

New Antenna
Our new Force12 antenna has not been ordered yet. The order was held up in the paperwork at FAU. John (WD4V) will check on the status and will try to get things moving again.

Calendar
Hank (N3HV) informed us that Jim Lushine form NOAA Miami will be visiting the Gold Coast Amateur Radio Club on July 27th.
7:30 pm at Imperial Point Hospital (Federal & McNab road) Keep this date free!
Jim's title is Warning Coordination Meteorologist and he is known in the Amateur Radio community for his Skywarn classes.
This promises to be an interesting evening!

Our next meeting will be Tuesday July 20.
